Privacy policy
What is processed on your device, what may leave it, what is retained, and the controls you have. Written to match the shipped product, not a generic template.
1. Who this covers
This policy describes how Tellune (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use theTellune mobile app and this website at tellune.app. It is written for adults aged 18 or older.

2. What is processed on your device
WhatsApp exports (and other text imports) are parsed locally on your phone or in your browser. Message ordering, participant mapping, the nine deterministic indicators, and rematch comparison maths run locally. In the mobile app, draft and report encryption also run on device. The raw export is not uploaded for those steps.
3. What may be sent
Two optional paths can leave the device, and both are disclosed before they run:
- Screenshot extraction in the mobile app — temporary compressed image copies, only after a separate confirmation. Images are processed to extract text and are not kept as a stored transcript. In the browser analyzer, screenshot text extraction runs locally in your browser.
- Cloud coaching — your chosen goal, indicator values, and the exact minimised excerpts shown on the consent screen. Participants are labelled only as You and Them. Excerpts are discarded once the report is built.
You can use indicators without cloud coaching. You can withdraw future AI consent in Settings.
4. What is retained
The app stores encrypted drafts and aggregate reports locally. Imported transcripts and screenshots are not placed into a long-lived report copy as raw chat history.
If you enable Premium Private Sync, the service retains one opaque end-to-end encrypted report snapshot. The encryption key is derived from a recovery code only you hold — we cannot decrypt the contents. Losing that code makes the synced copy unreadable to everyone, including you.
5. Anonymous service access
No account is required to start. A random identifier is kept in the mobile platform secure store, or in browser storage when you use web checkout. It is used for short-lived API sessions, rate limits, purchase entitlement continuity, and private sync. It is not a name, email address, or advertising identifier.
6. Analytics and diagnostics
Optional diagnostics contain allowlisted product and reliability fields such as app version, import type, and a broad message-count bucket. Message text, names, filenames, screenshots, and exact timestamps are rejected. You can disable diagnostics in Privacy settings.
7. Purchases
Premium subscriptions in the iPhone app are processed by Apple through the App Store, with RevenueCat used to manage entitlement status. If web checkout is offered, RevenueCat and the payment provider shown at checkout process that purchase. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. RevenueCat receives the random purchase identifier and purchase history needed to provide and analyze Premium access. See Restore purchases and refunds for help.
8. Your controls
You can:
- Inspect and correct every imported message before analysis
- Use indicators without sending anything for coaching
- Withdraw future AI consent
- Delete individual reports or wipe all protected data from Settings
- Disconnect a synced device or delete the encrypted cloud copy

9. Age, lawful access, and limitations
Tellune is for adults aged 18+. Only import conversations you are lawfully allowed to access. The product provides communication indicators and coaching, not therapy, diagnosis, legal advice, compatibility scoring, or emergency support. It cannot determine another person’s feelings or intent.
Tellune is not affiliated with WhatsApp, Meta, or Apple.
10. This website
The website includes a browser analyzer. When you select a text export, ZIP, screenshots, or paste text, the file is read and analyzed in your browser; the raw conversation is not uploaded for parsing or the indicator preview. The page emits only allowlisted, content-free product events inside the browser and does not include message text, names, filenames, screenshots, report contents, or exact timestamps.
If you choose AI coaching and unlock Premium, the browser sends the chosen goal, aggregate indicators, and the minimized excerpts prepared for coaching to the Tellune API under the same rules described in section 3. RevenueCat receives a random browser purchase identifier and purchase information when you check entitlement status or use web checkout. Browser storage may retain that random identifier so a returning purchase can be recognized. The conversation is discarded from the analyzer when the full report is finished or when you clear/restart the tool.
11. Changes
If product behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the in-app privacy summary. The date at the top is the last revision.
